Clearance of Reservoir Vegetation

Contractors are today clearing some of the vegetation that has grown up in the basin of the drained Llanishen reservoir.  The material is being shredded and deposited on the old sailing school boat storage area.  The embankments of Lisvane reservoir have already been cleared of the extensive growth of small trees (mainly willow) that had established in the stone pitching around the reservoir.  It is good to see that the current owners, Celsa Steel UK, are dealing with this issue, as concerns had been expressed about the possible damage that such plant growth might do to the reservoir embankments.
