Save our Reservoirs - the 100 Club?

Hopefully, by now you are aware of, and have signed up for, the ‘Save Our Cardiff Reservoirs Walk which takes place on Saturday 3rd September. The great news is that amongst the 60+ entries so far, five of our fantastic supporting politicians will be taking part to show their 100% support for our cause; the former First Minister Rhodri Morgan, Labour AMs Julie Morgan (Cardiff North), and their dog, Jenny Rathbone (Cardiff Central) and her partner John Uden, Conservative MP Jonathan Evans (Cardiff North) and friends, and Eluned Parrott AM and some of her Welsh Lib Dem colleagues, which sends a fantastic, united message about saving our precious Green Space. Also, the former Liberal Democrat AM for Cardiff Central, Baroness Jenny Randerson, who would have liked to take part but is away on holiday, has kindly made a donation instead.

So lets make this the One Hundred Club supporting RAG to keep our Green Space Safe for us, our children and our children's children.

With regards to the event, if you are able to volunteer and help out, even for an hour, then that would be great – there are lots of tasks to do on the day from checking people in at Pontcanna Scout Hall to helping on Checkpoints.
Or if you want to take part and walk there is a choice of five routes:
- Gold Route: across to Roath Park then along the Green Corridor (which includes the Cardiff reservoirs) to Caerphilly Mountain. From there they will go over the ridgeway to the Garth Mountain and back to Pontcanna on the Taff Trail. This is a circular walk of about 22 miles and 2000 feet of ascent.
- Silver Route: This is a circular walk of about 17 miles and 1000 feet of ascent. It follows the Gold Route to the summit of Caerphilly Mountain then descends to the Taff Trail back to Pontcanna.
- Bronze Route: This is a linear walk of about 12 miles. A bus will take walkers from Pontcanna to Taffs Well. Walkers then go to the summit of Caerphilly Mountain then along the Green Corridor to Roath park and back to Pontcanna.
- Copper Route: This is a linear walk of about 6 miles. A bus will take walkers from Pontcanna to Cefn Onn Park in Lisvane. Walkers then go along the Green Corridor to Roath park and back to Pontcanna.
- Zinc Route: This is a circular walk of about 3 miles. From Pontcanna the walk goes towards Llanadaff on the west side of the Taff then returns along the east side of the river. and back to Pontcanna.
On completing their selected route each walker is given a Certificate and refreshments.
