13th Sept. 2010: CCW APPROVES NANT FAWR NATURE RESERVE

At its Council meeting in Abergavenny, the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) approved Cardiff Council's case for declaring the Nant Fawr Meadows, Rhyd-y-Penau woods and Woods Covert as a Local Nature Reserve (LNR).  These current Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation form an important part of the Nant Fawr River Corridor which Cardiff Council are seeking to protect and enhance for biodiversity. The LNR reserve designation should be confirmed by the Council shortly, and it will give this area further protection from development.
