We can confirm that Celsa bought the whole of the Llanishen / Lisvane Reservoir site from Western Power at the end of August 2013. This includes Gwern-y-Bendy wood in the western corner of the site. It is still difficult to believe that after 12 long years we have finally seen off Western Power Distribution!
We have contacted Celsa to assure them of our goodwill and our hope that Llanishen reservoir can be refilled and public access restored. They re-iterated that they purchased the reservoirs to secure the water supply for their steelworks, and that they have no plans to start building houses there. Celsa are currently evaluating the site and discussing their statutory obligations with organisations such as Natural Resources Wales. As yet they have made no decision about their future plans for the reservoirs.
