RAG's Lisvane Festival Fete

Well! We turned up, and in true 'Brit' style 'dug in' at the Lisvane Festival Fete on Saturday 18 June, not to be beaten by the challenging weather. We were, in the end, one of the lucky ones that retained our gazebo rather than watching it sail off into the far distance. But the rain held off and the attendance was excellent, giving the whole event a real 'buzz'.

RAG would like to say a big thank you to the many people who came to see us offering their continuing whole hearted support, including Julie Morgan AM, who has been supporting the Council's policy in seeking to protect the Nant Fawr Corridor from development, for many years.

We also welcome all our new members and thank them for joining at the Rhyd y Penau School event in the morning and at the Lisvane event in the afternoon. Our membership has seen an excellent increase following the 10th anniversary AGM and our recent profile and fund raising drive.

Sadly, our opportunity to sell our members creative fundraising gifts was hampered by the weather conditions, although, as ever plant sales were strong but then they didn't fly off the table!

The new RAGamuffins magazine and competition proved very popular along with our childrens' colouring competition which was won by Jessica from Barry. So, overall the afternoon event raised an excellent £93.50 towards our Fighting Fund. Well done to everyone.

RAG would like to thank all the volunteers, and members, who 'manfully, manned our stand, and kept a roof over our heads. No one needed to go to the gym that night! RAG would also like to thank the Lisvane Historical Society who generously offered RAG their 'pitch' this year.
